Women of Grace

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, we commit ourselves to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study, to support the mission of the church, to work for justice and peace, and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens Grace Presbyterian Church.

Membership is open to any woman who indicates her desire to participate; she need not be a member of the congregation of Grace Presbyterian Church.

The WOG budget is a self-supporting budget. We meet all our financial needs through pledges by the women of our Church. All profits from fundraising are distributed to local charities. One goal of our budget is to be able to provide free childcare for WOG general meetings held at the church. Other major expenses are the circle Bible study book, gifts to ministry of choice for memorials and births, and a gift to Presbyterian Women.

Through our Missions, we minister to the needy and elderly in our community. This support includes both financial assistance from Women of Grace fundraisers and countless volunteer hours as our members donate their time and talents to a variety of worthy causes.

  • Meals on Wheels
For many years, Women of Grace has answered a call to deliver meals on every Monday and every Thursday to the elderly and disabled on the Kennedale Meals on Wheels route.
  • Day Circle Heart Share
Women of Grace day circle participants support the women and children of SafeHaven each month as they donate items to the Heart Share.
  • Tuesday Circle $1 Donation
Women of Grace night circle participants donate a dollar at each meeting. At the end of the year, the money is donated to a charity of their choosing.
  • Thank Offering
The thank offering, collected at the October general meeting, is submitted to Presbyterian Women. Forty percent of this offering is used to support hospitals and community health programs that place priority in helping the needy. The remaining 60% is used for proposals submitted by PC(USA) governing bodies, health agencies, overseas churches, ecumenical councils, community agencies, educational institutions and church related groups for funding of agricultural development, child care, community organization, criminal justice, drug counseling, economic justice, elderly care, employment training, homelessness, literacy, violence and women’s concerns. These grants range from $1,000 to $30,000.
  • Birthday Offering
The birthday offering, collected at the April general meeting and each Tuesday Circle meeting, is also submitted to Presbyterian Women. This offering supports innovative mission projects both overseas and in the United States. Up to five projects are designated each year and interpretive material, such as bulletin covers, offering envelopes, posters or brochures, are prepared by the Creative Ministries Offering Committee. Reports concerning this offering are in the January/February issue of Horizons magazine.
  • The Fellowship of the Least Coin
Each participant at day circle and Tuesday Circle meetings contributes their least coin to an international fund for projects of evangelism in the name of Christ. Our WOG donation is dedicated at the May Fellowship Service of the Church Women United.
