Children’s Missions

Missions

A children’s mission offering is collected each Sunday during the Sunday school hour. This is a great opportunity for the children to learn about missions and the missionaries who do God’s wonderful work here on Earth.

The children support Rosangela through Compassion International. In addition to financial support, the children correspond with Rosangela and support her with their prayers.

Heifer International
The children conduct a “Jars of Caring” fundraise for Heifer International each spring. Funds are collected to purchase animals for needy people designated by H I. After the money is counted the children enjoy voting for the animals to be purchased.

Mission Tree
During Advent, our “Mission Tree” becomes a “Mitten Tree’ where we collect mittens, hats and socks in support of the Arlington Women’s Shelter.

The Mission Tree takes on seasonal themes throughout the year as the children share their love with members of the congregation and community. For example, in February the children make valentines and hang them on the Mission Tree. The cards are distributed to our shut-in members for Valentines Day.

One Great Hour of Sharing
During Lent, we collect coins for the One Great Hour of Sharing, OGHS, children’s coin banks. OGHS supports the Presbyterian Hunger Program, Self-Development of People and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
